UPDATE 2022:

2022: Thanks for visiting my webpage. This past season I played for the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs U18 AAA. During this season I continued to develop and grow as a person and a hockey player. Considered one of the top skaters in the league, I am proud of my contributions to my team. I finished this past season as one of our team's top D, and have been referred to as a "can't miss Defenceman" by my coach. I continue to AP for the Jr B Chatham Maroons and skate weekly with my skate coach. Academics are extremely important to me, and once again I am on track for my 3rd consecutive year as an Honour Student. Transcripts are available on request.

2021: I am a U16 player who just finished my final year with the AAA Chatham Kent Cyclones. I have played AAA since my Major Atom year. I have also played up as an AP player for the 2004 AAA Cyclone team for the last 3 years. I’ve proven that I can play well against older players. In 2020 I was asked to AP for the Jr B Chatham Maroons, unfortunately the season was cancelled due to Covid. Like most Canadians, I learned to skate as soon as soon as I could stand on two feet. Thanks to some great coaches over the years, including professionals who have played in the OHL and NHL, my skills and passion have continued to grow and improve. I have a hard work ethic, whether its on the ice, in the gym, or in a classroom. I graduated Elementary school in 2019 as Valedictorian. I was also on the Honour roll, received a Math award, and Top Academic award. In grade 9, I made Honour Roll with an 84% average. Even though Covid has changed the learning environment, I’m on track for Honour Roll in Grade 10 with an average of 85% to date. School transcripts available on request.

The 2020/21 season proved to be a very difficult time for all U16 players, coaches, scouts, and associations. This was supposed to be a big year for all AAA U16 players, we worked hard to get this far. With all that Covid has interrupted, I have created this web space to introduce myself to you and to tell you a little more about Brenden McKay. A highlight video is posted below. JAMIE KNIGHT – HEAD COACH OF THE WALLACEBURG RED DEVILS JUNIOR B LACROSSE TEAM

“I’VE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO COACH BRENDEN AND WATCH HIM DEVELOP INTO A STRONG AND EXTREMELY VERSATILE LACROSSE PLAYER. HE IS VERY RELIABLE IN THE D END AND DOESN’T SHY AWAY FROM CONTACT, HE ACTUALLY THRIVES ON IT. HIS VERSATILITY IN RUNNING THE FLOOR AND CONTRIBUTING ON OFFENCE IS A COACHES DREAM. AS A JUNIOR COACH I’M EXCITED TO SEE HIM TAKE THAT NEXT STEP SOON.”

LORI CORRIVEAU (GUNN), PROFESSIONAL SKATING INSTRUCTOR FOR OVER 35 YEARS.

I STARTED TEACHING BRENDEN TO SKATE WHEN HE WAS 3 YEARS OLD. HE HAS EXCELLENT EDGE AWARENESS RESULTING IN SMOOTH AND EFFORTLESS TRANSITIONS. HE HAS GOOD STRIDE MECHANICS BOTH FORWARDS AND BACKWARDS RESULTING IN EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE MOVEMENT ON THE ICE WITH SPEED!

SCOTT TERON – COACH – BLENHEIM BLADES JR C, CHATHAM KENT CYCLONES AAA

BRENDEN IS A SMART HEADS UP PLAYER WHO SEES THE ICE WELL AND DOES A GREAT JOB OF READING THE PLAY AND PUTTING HIMSELF IN A GOOD POSITION. HIS CONFIDENCE SHOWS ON AND OFF THE ICE AND HE IS ALWAYS LOOKING TO IMPROVE HIS PLAY AND GAIN AN ADVANTAGE OVER HIS OPPONENTS.
